That is an interesting and evocative portrait, pleasantly ambiguous, but very good. I'd use this to illustrate my point that art should ASK questions, not answer them.

Erm drawing people? :s I dunno. I suppose it starts with understanding the structure of the the bones and muscles. I'm not great at making up figures off the top of my head yet, I still need a photo for reference or the proportions are all off.
Tips for portrait drawing is simple. Its all in the detail. Where an eyebrow starts, when it ends, eye shape, cheek bone size etc.
